Duluth at Night

Duluth Skyline from Park Point - 42nd on the beach.

Louisville and Baseball

As most of you know, Mark and I drove to Louisville to see Ben and Ashley. We had a great time! We did a lot of walking, sitting at games and eating – do you have any idea how often a baseball player eats!

We did a lot of walking on the ‘Waterfront Park’ that goes along the Ohio river for miles! We thought we must have covered most of it, but I’m sure we didn’t. The park areas are beautiful! Our hotel was on Riverfront Road and was also great. The ball field was beautiful and we walked around that a lot, too. Our 'family section' at the ball park was right behind home plate - great view of the pitcher! The food there was really good, too. They have a great kids play area including a 'merry-go-round'! They have great entertainment between innings - even a golden retriever who gets the bats and returns them to the dugout! We walked downtown and enjoyed the ‘Gallopalooza Art Exhibition’ – statues of painted that had been in the Kentucky Derby races. They really were pretty. We went to the Louisville Slugger Museum and factory where they make bats for the professional ball players along with lots of other wooden, metal and composite bats – very interesting. We even came home with miniature bats!

Ben pitched one game while we were there and did great. He pitched 8 innings of a game that went 16 innings! He is still doing great – he pitched last night – 6 innings with a personal record high 9 strike-outs!

Mark did some fishing - yes, he brought a fishing pole and tackle box - and he caught 4 bass! I found lots of flowers while he was fishing. We saw some historic sites - old water tower, one wall from a historic home, Abe Lincoln, Old Spaghetti Factory and more. We saw a helicopter put an air conditioner unit on the top of a downtown building - with strong enough winds to blow branches off trees! Even some unique cars

Standing Tall!

I found these lupins on my way home one day.  I couldn't resist stopping to capture this tall curved one.  The smell of lupins still brings me back to my childhood and making pretend 'soup' with the dried seed pods -  no need for pepper!

Architecture

These are some pictures I took while 'babysitting' at Travis and Kelly's  - they had an open house for renters and it was slow, so I took pictures.  I love the woodwork inside.  Outside, I couldn't resist capturing the pink flowers against the pink window - also, knew Diane would love the pink and turquoise (that will disappear before too long, when they paint the house).   For more pictures from their house click here.

More of the Barn Chics

These are some pictures from Diane and Linda's Barn Chics sale. The weather was cold, so not a lot of people, but boy do they have cool stuff! For more picture click here.

Dew Drop Project

We have this plant in our 'used-to-be' garden, I don't even know what it is called, but it makes a wonderful place for dew drops to 'hang-on' every morning in the spring. These are a few of the photos I have taken trying to get that 'perfect shot'. You can see the rest of the project images at Dew Drops in flickr - just click on the slideshow near the upper right corner.

Puppy loves music!

This our dog, KC, as a puppy.  She loved sitting at my husband's feet in his case while he played the guitar.  She was a rescue dog from Kansas City, so we named her KC.  We don't know what breed combination she is - maybe some Sherpherd, maybe some Lab, maybe 'who knows what'.  She has webbed feet and a 'waterproof' coat with a coarse top layer and soft underlayer.  She has been a wonderful dog and still loves music!  She has kept her beautiful coloring, too - we call it Mahogony and Black.

Ohhh....Happy Birthday!

This is my grand-nephew looking at his birthday card - he seems to be reading it and very interested, but if you look closely, the card is actually upside down!  I used 'CoffeeShop Creamy Chocolate B&W' to help fix this photo.

Challenge #20 - Silhouettes

This is a photo of me (an amatuer photographer) caputuring a professional photographer at work!  This was at my sister's house on the lake in Northern Minnesota and is of her brother-in-law taking pictures of the effects of the setting sun on the water.   I love how the sun seems to be 'glowing' from the top of his head.

Blurb Photo Book Contest #19- Ohhh noooo...

Ohhhh...nooooo.........Yep...that is COLD water - right in her lap! This was my niece and her 2 year old son thought it would be funny to 'cool off' his mom! She was shocked at first, but then she did laugh and of course, so did her son! I just happened to have my camera 'on the ready'!

I am submitting this photo into the www.iheartfaces.com Blurb book photo contest. If chosen, I grant I ♥ Faces permission to use my photo in a printed version of a book for commercial use and possibly advertising of a photo book on both the Blurb and I ♥ Faces web sites. I love Blurb photo books so much I have made 9 of them!
