Puppy loves music!

This our dog, KC, as a puppy.  She loved sitting at my husband's feet in his case while he played the guitar.  She was a rescue dog from Kansas City, so we named her KC.  We don't know what breed combination she is - maybe some Sherpherd, maybe some Lab, maybe 'who knows what'.  She has webbed feet and a 'waterproof' coat with a coarse top layer and soft underlayer.  She has been a wonderful dog and still loves music!  She has kept her beautiful coloring, too - we call it Mahogony and Black.

Ohhh....Happy Birthday!

This is my grand-nephew looking at his birthday card - he seems to be reading it and very interested, but if you look closely, the card is actually upside down!  I used 'CoffeeShop Creamy Chocolate B&W' to help fix this photo.

Challenge #20 - Silhouettes

This is a photo of me (an amatuer photographer) caputuring a professional photographer at work!  This was at my sister's house on the lake in Northern Minnesota and is of her brother-in-law taking pictures of the effects of the setting sun on the water.   I love how the sun seems to be 'glowing' from the top of his head.

Blurb Photo Book Contest #19- Ohhh noooo...

Ohhhh...nooooo.........Yep...that is COLD water - right in her lap! This was my niece and her 2 year old son thought it would be funny to 'cool off' his mom! She was shocked at first, but then she did laugh and of course, so did her son! I just happened to have my camera 'on the ready'!

I am submitting this photo into the www.iheartfaces.com Blurb book photo contest. If chosen, I grant I ♥ Faces permission to use my photo in a printed version of a book for commercial use and possibly advertising of a photo book on both the Blurb and I ♥ Faces web sites. I love Blurb photo books so much I have made 9 of them!

I Heart Faces - "Child Laughter"

This is my grandson! He was laughing so hard, he had tears in his eyes - the drooling is 'teeth coming in'.  His mom was making goofy faces to get him to laugh.  I love the laughter in children!

I Heart Faces - 'Laughter'

It's hard to say who's laughing harder - my sister or the dolphin!  This was one of our stops on our Caribean cruise.  If you have ever done 'swim with the dolphins', you know they really do laugh!

Fix-itFriday Feedback Day

This is the one I fixed, there are still glare marks on the glasses and would like the faces to be more even from front to back.

The orginal -  photo was taken with a Nikon D80, ISO 300, 18mm lens, F4, 1/60 sec. with external 600SB flash.

This is a photo I took of our staff - I need some help getting the colors right - especially the faces - in front and in back.  In the original, there's some  shine on some of the girls in the front, too. Needs a little cropping, too.  Thanks for your help.

Grandson Drafted to A s

This picture is of the cap we gave my Dad from when his 24 year old grandson got drafted to the A's baseball team!  I love the look on his other grandson's face as he looks at him.  Now, Ben is in the AAA minor league team for the Cincinatti Reds.

Robin's Nest Project

This was a project I worked on for several weeks (obviously, not this year). Because of the space the Robin decided to put her nest, I had to use my Fujifilm point and shoot camera to get the nest pictures - my SLR would not fit in the small space. I published a book about this on Blurb - 'The Robin's Nest"   You can preview the first 15 pages, but you can see most of the photos at my flickr site: Wendy J Photos

Here's the first egg!

and then there were two...

and now there are three...

The nest is complete - 4 beautiful blue eggs - good job Mom!

All but one left to hatch!

Not too pretty, yet, are they...

Mom or Dad on guard - always watching when not in the nest...

Still prettty ugly, but they are getting some feathers and color..

More feathers and getting bigger...

Waiting for the coast to clear, so I can bring some food to the babies...

Hey, wer'e hungry here... where's our dinner??

It's getting pretty crowed in here - we have to 'layer' just to fit in the nest.

Now there are only 2 left in the nest - I watched them to see what they would do now that the other 2 'flew the coop'.

He or she is on her own now - hopped to the driveway and then flew to a nearby tree - I didn't see them again and they never went back to the nest.

Yellow Roses Project

This is my 'Yellow Roses Project'.  For more project results, you can visit my Flickr page at:

One of my co-workers got roses for her golden birthday on the 27th.  I am taking a community ed photography class to try to learn more about my Canon 30D camera and get it off the 'auto' button.  I took several pictures and was dissapointed in the quality - not very many in focus.  At my next class, I found out I had messed a little too much with the buttons, and my focus was doing weird things.

Anyway, I used Capture NX (software from my Nikon D80 camera) to try to salvage some of the photos.  I cropped, did soft focus and just played around.  One of the things Capture NX has is a 'black control point'.  You just put the dot on what you think should be black.  I did that for most of the pictures by going to a dark shadow area.  As I was moving the dot around, I got the effect in the 'blue' roses.  It was interesting, so I saved a couple of them for my co-worker.

I am anxious for us to start getting flowers around here (Northern Minnesota) so I can do more 'learning' on my camera.

Most of my other photos on Flickr are from my Nikon D80, but that is in for repairs, so I am learning this new Canon camera.  I don't have a preferrence for either camera, yet.  Although, I would like to combine my favorite features from each camera and maybe come up with the perfect camera.
